Wednesday in the First Week in Ordinary Time

On leaving the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her. He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them. When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. The whole town was gathered at the door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him. Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed. Simon and those who were with him pursued him and on finding him said, “Everyone is looking for you.” He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.” So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee. Mk 1:29-39

In this passage we can read all about Jesus, but we must also realize this isn't a novel but the truth! Jesus Christ is Real! He came to preach, to heal, and but above all to die for us. Our Lord in those three years of ministry performed more miracles than all of the prophets before Him.

In our lives today we have the sick and possessed. We have those people that are controlled by the devil. These people love sin and they love the world. They love avarice and self-indulgence; these people are just as the devil wants them to be. For the devil knows his time is short. He will work with force and speed and all the while appear heavenly. But as the Bible admonishes, the devil comes as a angel of light.

For this is how you know the truth - Jesus Christ gave us His Church. This Church in Matthew 16:18 was by God's words guarded from the fires of hell. Anything opposed to the firm Dogmas and truths of our faith is a lie. Don't be lead into a lie, to stretch the truth. For the Church is perfectly true on contraception, the role of women priests, abortion, euthanasia, etc. Have faith for Jesus Christ healed and preached, but today know that He is with us - in the Church.

Let us pray for the Gifts of the Spirit of God, that we too might heal and serve the Lord according to His Most High Will. Pray a Prayer for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
