Bought "The Gift of Peace" by Cardinal Bernardin

The library in my town always sells some new books they get. They usually sell about 10 at a time, so there is not usually a big selection. Almost all of the time it is newer Mystery fiction, but there was shockingly a Catholic book on the shelf tonight! I couldn't resist buying "The Gift of Peace" by Cardinal Bernardin. The Chicago Cardinal finished the book just days before his death in 1996. He knew he was dying as he wrote the book, so it is quite poignant.

You can read my review of the book here: The Gift of Peace

I was at our Catholic Diocese library oneday when I noted the librarian with a trolley load of books. When I said that someone must be having a good read the librarian informed me that those particular books were headed for the incinerator *shock* *horror*!!

I saved them and begged her if I could keep them rather than have them BURNT! She kindly agreed.

Amongst them were works by St. Francis de Sales, Teresa of Avila, Augustine of Hippo, St. Therese of Lisieux, Henri Nouwen and many more.

It may be worth finding what your catholic Diocese does with their unwanted books?

BTW thankyou for your comments on our Blog, unfortunately the comment box thingy went awry on us but its now working I hope lol.

Yours in Christ,
