Joining Christian Bloggers

I, like several other Catholic bloggers, have received an invitation to join Christian Bloggers. I have taken awhile to think about this and have decided to join. I feel that being listed there will help this blog's purpose of advancing the truth of the Catholic Church.

So, let us pray that all Christians will unite into the true Church of Jesus Christ - the Catholic Church. Our Lord prayed, "I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me" (John 17: 20-21)

Visit Christian Bloggers.

If you are visiting from Christian Bloggers, then have a look around my blog. Be sure to check out my apologetic posts to see the truth of the Catholic Church. I conclude with the words of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen: "There are not one hundred people in this world who dislike Catholicism, but there are millions who dislike what they mistakenly believe Catholicism to be."

I have to comment on your last sentence...I have a patient at work who is some fundamental knock you on the head and you fall down and saved type of religion (yes, it is my ignorance that I don't know enough about this religion and I might be overly harsh on it but you get the point)...anyways when he found out I was Catholic he asked me how I could be part of a cult.

I laughed so hard I really did fall off the chair.

The cult comment is an interesting one because while every Christian group thinks the 'other guy' is one, the actual definition of the word would mean most Christian groups, including Catholics, are actually one themselves. For example, a typical mark of a cult of Christianity is the belief in extra-biblical authorities.

From a sociological point of view, Roman Catholicism is not a cult. From a theological point however, it's a different story (e.g. penance, indulgences, eucharist, basis of authority, exclusivity, etc.). Anyhow, the point is, objectively speaking it isn't a stretch to see why someone might think the Roman Catholic church is as much a 'cult' as say, the Mormons. It doesn't make either religion right or wrong simply because of a tag but it does give pause for thought.
