Anglican Church may reunite with Rome

March 12 Update: No plans to reunite according to Archbishop of Canterbury

Feb 20 Update: Unity is unlikely

Original Post: I found this online:

Radical proposals to reunite Anglicans with the Roman Catholic Church under the leadership of the Pope are to be published this year, The Times has learnt.

The proposals have been agreed by senior bishops of both churches.

In a 42-page statement prepared by an international commission of both churches, Anglicans and Roman Catholics are urged to explore how they might reunite under the Pope.

The statement, leaked to The Times, is being considered by the Vatican, where Catholic bishops are preparing a formal response.

I am extremely excited and hopeful that we truly will move closer to Our Lord's wish for their to be "one flock and one shepherd." As long as we do not compromise our beliefs, this truly will be a remarkable event if it leads to reuinfication.

An example of an Anglican-use parish is Our Lady of the Atonement Catholic Church.

The link to the article is dead--there are dots in the wrong place in it.

It sounds to me as though the document is an ARCIC offering; let's see what happens... But, my! It would be wonderful if so!

Ah; found it (via Ruth Gledhill's blog).

Her commentary is here.

Interesting that this is coinciding with:
- the Anglican Primates meeting in Dar-es-Salaam;
- the Anglican Use conference thingummy is scheduled soon in the U.S.

I just found and printed out some Anglican use Introits for Lent that I may use at my RC church. I would LOVE it if more parishes around the country and the world were Anglican Use Catholic.

This is THRILLING news. I'd also love to see reunion with the LCMS Lutheran churches (as opposed to the ELCA Lutheran churches). My understanding of LCMS Lutheran doctrine is such that I believe that we're already this close [ ]. I'd love to see reunion with those good folks AND the Anglican church.

I put my commentary online here, if it's worth anything. Cheers, M
