Exclusive Interview: On the Ottaviani Intervention
edit_button

Long time readers of A Catholic Life may recall my post in September 2009, in which I shared an exclusive interview with His Excellency Bishop Williamson produced by True Restoration Media.  That 25 minute interview is still available free of charge through True Restoration.

I am pleased to announce that A Catholic Life is the first media outlet of any kind to announce the release of another exclusive interview.  This one is entitled “The Ottaviani Intervention” and features a 17-minute interview with Fr. Anthony Cekada, a well known priest in the Traditionalist Movement.  It is featured below.  Father Cekada is the translator of Cardinal Ottaviani’s work into English.

Written by Cardinal Ottaviani in 1969, the text has become foundational for Traditionalists.  As Father Cekada states, “[It] represents the charter of the Traditionalist Movement.”  The very opening of the book by Cardinal Ottanviani unequivocally states that the Novus Ordo Missale is a “striking departure” from the Mass as understood for centuries and defined dogmatically at the Council of Trent.  This is certainly in the spirit of Fr. Kramer’s “The Suicide of Altering the Faith in the Liturgy.”

If you have never read the Ottaviani Intervention, pick up a copy today (for only $4.00).  The text is both short and easy to read, unlike some often-cited works in the Traditionalist Movement.

Please visit True Restoration Media and browse their collection of Traditional Catholic Videos.  All of which are good quality and above all, faithfully Catholic.  Your purchase of any of these streaming videos will directly benefit the continuing work of True Restoration Media.

I just re-read it today, after probably 5 years since I first read it, and I picked up so much more that I didn't pick up the first time, e.g., the suppression of the Veni Sanctificator and how the Orthodox will further distance themselves from the Roman Church as a result of the Novus Ordo.

Now, I need to re-read Pascendi. That one never loses its value.

Also, Card. Ottaviani was the #2 most important man Paul VI papacy, so his intervention cannot be overlooked.

It's too bad Card. Ottaviani ultimately gave in and accepted the progressivism. Only Abp. Lefebvre and Mayer remained steadfast out of the 250 of the Cætus Internationalis Patrum.
