And, as Bill just said, the sanctity of life is the issue. Life is more precious than these other issues. That is why adoption should be over INVITRO or other methods. Some want biologicallly related children. If your argument is that if God wanted them to have children, they would be more fertile, couldn't an equally legitimate argument be "if man were meant to fly, he'd have wings." I don't suppose you want us to ban airplanes?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-1122736874658497312005-07-30T10:21:00.000-05:002005-07-30T10:21:00.000-05:00I realize that these embryos all come from INVITRO...I realize that these embryos all come from INVITRO fertilization clinics. What is the Church's position on these clinics? Wouldn't it be better just to get rid of them to stop the destruction of embryos and increase adoption?Matthewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07929374709032473716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-1122715914241982102005-07-30T04:31:00.000-05:002005-07-30T04:31:00.000-05:00My question is, if they're going to destroy the em...My question is, if they're going to destroy the embryo's anyway, why not turn them over to research where they'll do some good, instead of just throwing them into the incinerator?

I grant you, it's a delicate balance, but I think embryonic stem-cell research should be encouraged under strict conditions.

1. Embryo's may not be created in a labratory for the express purpose of harvesting stem cells.

2. Only Embryo's slated for destruction may be used.

3. Every effort must be completly exhausted to adopt existing embryo's before being turned over for research.

Here I see a point of contention though. Many couples have expressed their uneasiness with allowing frozen embryo's to be adopted (a child of mine running around in the world that I've never seen). In this case couples should be allowed to donate these embryo's directly to research.

God Bless.Ravenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11664571862123368442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-1122694067724935742005-07-29T22:27:00.000-05:002005-07-29T22:27:00.000-05:00Mike,Did you already send an email on these three ...Mike,

Did you already send an email on these three important bills?Matthewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07929374709032473716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-1122693901614114962005-07-29T22:25:00.000-05:002005-07-29T22:25:00.000-05:00Bill I have that trouble sometimes with those type...Bill I have that trouble sometimes with those types of sites and what I do is copy and paste everything into my own email software and send it from there.

Hope that helps,
MikeDeacon Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06265354630850604997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-1122682282452879182005-07-29T19:11:00.000-05:002005-07-29T19:11:00.000-05:00I have never heard of that with dogs, but I would ...I have never heard of that with dogs, but I would be against it because when something has died it should not be turned back alive. I heard that it's possible to create a sterile chimp-human chimera through in-vitro fertilization, along the lines of a mule... Sorry that was off topic.

While I agree with you, Embryotic stem cell reseach is morally wrong, couldn't one make the argument that it hasn't helped anyone because research on it is so restricted.

On a side note, have you heard of the reanimation of a dog by U. S. scientists? What is your stance? I personally am against it, but is that because I am wary of new things or is it in fact morally wrong. During the first organ donations, people though organ donations were morally crooked. (Ever see the movie "THe Brain That Wouldn't Die?" 1950's horror b-movie about the evils or organ transplantation) Here's an article: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,15739502-13762,00.html Though it could be a hoax or the dogs are never truly kiled and are only brought within an inch of death.
