The Ecumenical Patriarchate repeats its position that full union in faith is a prerequisite for sacramental communion."

At the Patriarchate, the 5th of July 2008
From the Chief Secretariat of the Holy Synod

http://www.ec-patr.org/docdisplay.php?lang=en&id=952&tla=enAdamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05258604282978361662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-24006332721716219302008-07-09T11:06:00.000-05:002008-07-09T11:06:00.000-05:00Looking back I hope I did not come off as overly n...Looking back I hope I did not come off as overly negative or offend you or your readers. We are all very passionate about the Church, and when things like this happen it tends to rustle feathers. We, I mean Catholics and Orthodox (Eastern and Oriental) must work together if their is going to be a re-evangelization of Europe and America. Also we must stand together against the rise of Islam.Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05258604282978361662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-86092223987214254902008-07-08T21:58:00.000-05:002008-07-08T21:58:00.000-05:00Thank you for sharing this helpful comment, Adam.Thank you for sharing this helpful comment, Adam.Matthewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07929374709032473716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-14722312603002886082008-07-08T21:49:00.000-05:002008-07-08T21:49:00.000-05:00I just saw this story last week and was greatly di...I just saw this story last week and was greatly disturbed by it. I have looked but did not find it from a non-Catholic point of view either. This has been sujested in the past and rejected by both Churches, we can only hope it will be again. Contrary to what the media thinks the EP does not speak for the Orthodox Church as a whole.

Bishop Hilarion of Vienna and Austria (major Orthodox eccumenical participant) says it like this, "The point is that when the Pope of Rome and the Patriarch of Constantinople meet, the secular media, which have a poor knowledge of the refinements of Orthodox ecclesiology, tend to present it as a meeting of the heads of the two Churches – Catholic and Orthodox. However, the Orthodox Church has a structure different was that of the Catholic Church, as we have no single universal primate, since each local Church is headed by its own primate. We respect the Patriarch of Constantinople as the first in honour among the primates of local Orthodox Churches, but we are against regarding him as ‘Pope of the East’."
source: http://orthodoxeurope.org/page/14/122.aspx#2

But the EP does say something good here, if reunion happens it will start at the grass roots level. I rather doubt it will happen soon, both sides stick to their guns and the best minds have tried to fix it for over 1000 years. This will just cause more problems. This is not what we need, no more confusion. Their can be no inter-communion if you are not in communion. I just don' get it.Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05258604282978361662noreply@blogger.com
