More on Deus Caritas Est, Pope Benedict XVI's 71 page encyclical published yesterday -

There seems to be a technicality with the new copyright rule for the encyclicals. You may republish parts of encyclicals as long as you acknowledge the copyright. If you would rather listen to a human made mp3 version of the post, please see this blog. It would take an hour and a half to listen to completely, but you could also print out the 71 pages and read it. I'm not one for reading 71 pages on an Internet screen. (Thanks, Happy Catholic for the tip)

I just copied it all, dumped it into a 3-column text file ... it was 19 pages in all.

Which is how I worked my way through many of JPII's encyclicals. I remember when the one on the rosary came out, I was astonished to find how readable it was. After that I went on a long encyclical reading jag. :-)
