Wednesday in the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Lately the Gospel readings have been filled with stories of healing. And, this one is no different. Again this story indicates the opinions I wrote about in last Sunday's Gospel. Namely, knowing Jesus Christ is personal. The Sacraments are personal ways to know and love Him. Only through a personal love for Jesus Christ will we know Him. We can know a lot about Jesus without ever knowing Him. Only by going out into the world and loving Him there and in the Mass and Eucharist, will we know Him completely.
When they arrived at Bethsaida, they brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Putting spittle on his eyes he laid his hands on him and asked, "Do you see anything?" Looking up he replied, "I see people looking like trees and walking." Then he laid hands on his eyes a second time and he saw clearly; his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly. Then he sent him home and said, "Do not even go into the village" (Mark 8:22-26).

"God our Father, you have promised to remain for ever with those who do what is just and right. Help us to live in your presence. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever."
