Protest: The Abraham Center of Life LLC

I ask everyone to visit Crossed the Tiber and protest this anti-life clinic. Here's the beginning of the post:

A Texas company has started producing batches of ready-made embryos that single women and infertile couples can order after reviewing detailed information about the race, education, appearance, personality and other characteristics of the egg and sperm donors.

The Abraham Center of Life LLC of San Antonio, the first commercial dealer making embryos in advance for unspecified recipients, was created to help make it easier and more affordable for clients to have babies that match their preferences, according to its founder.

Ah, yes. I heard about this from Ma Beck yesterday.

I feel terrible about this "manufacturing" company. And this hits me close since we are trying to conceive a baby.

It was one thing when sperm donation and egg donation took place. But now that the two are joined in the manufacturing of embryos, that's just a whole other ball game!

I'll go over to that link now.

The Abraham Center certainly creates some ethical issues. They are also trying to double the success rate of implanted embryos to maybe 70%. As I understand it, that's by choosing eggs that are not likely to have failure deficiienncies built in before fertilization. Perhaps the biggest ethical issue comes from just realizing that this happens, eggs destined before fertilization to fail after fertilization. See

I don't understand what the problem is. There are more than 500,000 frozen embryos in the US leftover from IVF. They could throw the embryos away or give them to couples who dont have the $30K+ to "adopt" a child. Which is more Catholic: let the embryo grow to term in another woman or to throw it away? Think about this for about five seconds.

I really don't think it is unethical, since the embryos are out there and would be kept frozen forever. Then IVF should be forbidden...!!!

As far as I know these embryos are being created for the express purpose of being sold. This isn't about taking already created embryos, but creating more and more of them.
