When I was young, in the 50's and 60's, this was the day in England that we prayed for this Indulgence, for the souls in Purgatory. We would go into the church and pray six Our Father's, Hail Mary's and Glorias for a particular soul who had died (usually family members)then we would leave the church for a moment, come back inside and repeat the prayers for another soul.We actually spent hours doing this on All Souls Day. Traditions vary, I know, but Tony is correct in saying that Nov. 2nd was the "Portiuncula Day". My grandparents and parents came from a Franciscan parish and this is where they learned of the practice.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-45039295150689979572010-10-07T20:59:02.679-05:002010-10-07T20:59:02.679-05:00@Tony: You would be wrong. The Portiuncula Indul...@Tony: You would be wrong. The Portiuncula Indulgence is granted August 2-3rd, and is a full plenary indulgence for the person who seeks it. The plenary indulgence granted during All Souls Day is for the intention of the person who seeks the indulgence - the indulgence is only good for the one that's dead.

http://www.the-latinmass.com/id112.htmlGordonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02167160960758864566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-57290132279077796352010-08-05T01:44:31.182-05:002010-08-05T01:44:31.182-05:00I still believe that the plenary indulgence being...I still believe that the plenary indulgence being
granted during the All Souls Day ( Nov.2 ) is the
Portiuncula Indulgence.
I read it in one of our Catholic book printed in the early sixties.

Antonio PorciunculaUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09246934357766754236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-1130973700090785492005-11-02T17:21:00.000-06:002005-11-02T17:21:00.000-06:00Thank you very much for your comments, Antonia.
