(Hello first, my name is Jason).

Explain to me ,if possible in a nutshell, why would Paul in 1 Corinthians (and elsewhere) describe the "body of Christ" as being those that are believers? He didn't say that they had to belong to the Roman Catholic Church in order to be saved...he simply talked about anyone who is (I'm going to use a scary word here) "Justified" belongs to the universal/catholic (not Roman) church and/or body of Christ?

I'm a protestant and view the body of Christ consisting as anyone who is saved. One can be Roman Catholic and saved, and one can be Protestant and saved. Both belonging to the body of Christ.Jason Garwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16761611366784000898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-60908777196539409512008-04-16T20:04:00.000-05:002008-04-16T20:04:00.000-05:00I read over those two links you submitted. I have ...I read over those two links you submitted. I have a couple of other questions. The first deals with "can non-catholics be saved". The only citations given were those given by former popes. Wouldn't there have to be basis in the Scripture for them to make such a statement i.e Sola Scriptura.
On faith issue, I lean towards disagreement. James and Paul say essentially the same about faith and works. James says,(2:17-18) if you are truly saved their should change in your life. Likewise paul says, (Galatians 5:22-23)by walking in Spirit good things will be produced. Therefore, I would conclude salvation is by faith alone, and with this faith comes a transformation that will elicit good works.J-Unithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03400364337255982042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13804788.post-45102030053786320592008-04-15T22:16:00.000-05:002008-04-15T22:16:00.000-05:00I will check them out, and get back to you when I ...I will check them out, and get back to you when I have questions.
