That's amazing, but isn't it a tad ostentateous for what the Altar of Repose signifies?

Good question, Epiphany Artist. The altar of repose is where the Eucharist is placed after Mass on Holy Thursday. People can pray and adore Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament until midnight.
