Collect of the Vigil of the Assumption (1962 Roman Catholic Daily Missal):

O God, You willed to choose the womb of Blessed Mary as Your dwelling place. Grant that we may joyfully celebrate her feast under the shield of her protection; who lives and rules with God the Father...

I was in a bind today that I really had no control over, yet, I feel guilty for not going.

First (since I am a recent revert) I was unaware that today was the celebration was the Assumption of Mary. My parish had Mass at 8:00am 9:15am and 7:00 pm. I found out about this Holdy Day around 10:00am, I had to go to work at 6:00pm. So I had no opportunity. Should I feel this guilty.

JP,

You had no way to attend Mass. Don't feel guilty. It was not your fault, so (in my humble opinion) you did not commit a sin in this instance.
