Does anyone else reading this blog listen to Gregorian Chant regularly?
Q: What is Gregorian chant?
Vega García: It is an age-old chant, cultural patrimony of humanity and continues to be the official chant of the Roman liturgy, as John Paul II himself reminded in 2003 in a chirograph on sacred music, on the occasion of the centenary of the "motu proprio" "Tra le Sollecitudini," in which he recalled the norms of the Second Vatican Council on liturgical music.
Q: Why is it called Gregorian chant?
Vega García: Because its authorship is attributed to Pope St. Gregory the Great.

I listen to Gregorian Chant on a very regular basis. I've been listening to it for years - even during my Mormon and agnostic years. I truly believe that it is one of the things that led me into the Church.
Daily Mass, some Wednesday Masses, and every compline at my parish features Gregorian chant.
I also have a great CD given to me by Msgr. Schmitz of the ICK, which I listen to at home on occasion.
The first time I heard the Gregorian Chant was around 1960 when a record album was released featuring The Trappist Monks of Gethsemane. I've loved it ever since. It has a spiritual quality about it that I can't even come close to describing.
I listen to Gregorian chant regularly. One of the very best recordings is by Chanticleer called "Mysteria". This music is as old as the Church and never fails to remind me of the deep and moving quality of our faith. There are many good chant recordings available.
Dear Gregorian Chant friends, I invite you to visit my gregorian chant page, from Brazil: www.gregoriano.org.br where you will find a lot of interesting things about the gregorian music and you can download 3 musics from our first CD Rorate.
I love gregorian chant. You should check out www.chantresources.com. It gives a lot of great cd's and also resources for learning more about chant.
Those are great links! Thank you!!!
I attend a Tridentine Rite Mass...so I hear gregorian chant every Sunday! I also have some CDs - there's a peace and depth about it like no other type of music.
