Well, World Youth Day is over and so is Pope Benedict XVI's first international trip. The next World Youth Day will be in 2008 in Sydney, Australia.
Do you think World Youth Day will bring people to the Church? Greater vocations to the priesthood
Do you think Pope Benedict XVI passed the "test" of being able to connect with the youth?

Do you think World Youth Day will bring people to the Church?
Events like World Youth Day are are grand opportunities we have as a Church for evangelization and evagelization always has the possibility of reaching the lost sheep and prodigal sons as well as those who do not even know they are lost or prodigal. It is an opprtunity we risk squandering for all it's grandure and pomp if we fail to take advantage of all the little ordinary opportunities for evangelization every waking hour in every day of our lives. Without our witness by how we live our lives everything that took place in cologne becomes just ceremony and words. That would indeed be a great tragedy.
Greater vocations to the priesthood?
Events like this may create more curiosity about the priesthood and that can be the first step in at least listening for th evoice of God in a call to vocation. In and of it self, however, it will mean nothing with out the prayers, support and encouragement of the individual diocese, parishes, schools and, most importantly, the home.
Do you think Pope Benedict XVI passed the "test" of being able to connect with the youth?
I think the youth of the world shocked many of the cynical forces of this world in how they have embraced this man. If you read much of the commentary leading up to the conclave, particularly in the secular press, there was a feeling that Carinal Ratzinger was to rigid, to authoritarian to be embraced by Catholic youth. It is true his personality is different from John Paul II but his unwavering commitment to the truth, unpolluted by the wishy washy, noncommital, relativist drivel that permeates to much of what passes for moral leadership today is exactly what these kids thirst for. What so many seem incapable of understanding is that is EXACTLY what they loved about John Paul II.

I've not been to any WYDs before, but am so so glad that the next one will be in Sydney...near my country!!
In my opinion, I believe that this event can bring conversion of hearts, but of course, that still depends if that person is willing to change. The second question, as a youth, I have loved him since the first day he became the Pope.
