BANGKOK: At least 29 countries have sharply curbed food exports in recent months to ensure that their people have enough to eat, at affordable prices.
When it comes to rice, India, Vietnam, China and 11 other countries have limited or banned exports. Fifteen countries, including Pakistan and Bolivia, have capped or halted wheat exports. More than a dozen have limited corn exports. Kazakhstan has restricted exports of sunflower seeds.
The restrictions are making it harder for impoverished importing countries to afford the food they need. The export limits are forcing some of the most vulnerable people, those who rely on relief agencies, to go hungry.
"It's obvious that these export restrictions fuel the fire of price increases," said Pascal Lamy, director general of the World Trade Organization.

Hello Matthew,
What happened to your post about bringing this blog down that appeared several days ago?
Instead of leaving one post about it, I posted the message in the top right hand corner of my blog in the sidebar. This way, the message is on all pages and not just on the home page.
Matthew, Thanks for the answer, but the post stated you were removing this blog, not just letting it go "dormant".
I said in the post in question that I was "closing" this blog. "Closing" and "going dormant" are the same.
Sorry, but "Closing" and "Going Dormant" are NOT the same. We will keep a closer watch from now on...
Anonymous, I can assure you that I equate the expressions "closing" and "going dormant" to be synonymous.
This blog is dormant. This blog is closed.
Thank you
Ethanol is causing food prices to raise drastically. It will be hard to convince many politicians to change with so much money being spent on it.

Matthew!
I keep losing your blog and thankfully have found it again. I'm bookmarking it now of course. I love reading all you have to say. You are inspiring.
With love,

Thanks, john michael, about the ethanol, but there are scientists trying to get ethanol or some other gasoline-like substance out of algae. (see Time's Top 100 issue) This could solve the problem if it could be used more often and there were a way to produce it more efficiently and abundantly. Maybe the food crisis would stop if we could find a way to use more diverse sources . . . .
God bless you Matthew and thank you for your prayers.
God bless you!
And, thank you for the kind words, Teresa.
A very beautiful and important blog.
Best regards from Brazil:
Geraldo
This is a wonderful blog you have!!!
I want to be a Traditional Carmelite nun when I'm an adult. I am debating on the order in Nebraska, do you believe that to be a devout and truly Traditional? Any info?
This would help!
God Bless You,
Grace
Matthew - I am saving an award for you to pick up when you return. God Bless you! - Adrienne
Dear Matthew,
I got to know you when i believe you were a member of The Catholic Community Forum.
I am a Catholic from India and I am wondering whether it is possible for you to send me via email the links to Masses from Solesmes which were formerly available at Dovesong.
Dovesong has shut down their MP3 Library of Gregorian Chant as well as of Sacred Music.
I was hoping you or anyone culd send me the following Masses chanted by the Benedictine Monks of Solesmes which were made avilable in the Past at Dovesong.
The Masses which i would like to have in MP3 Format are as follows:
1) Mass for the Feast of Christ the King chanted in 1958 by Dom J. Gajard of Solesmes.
2) Mass for the Feast of the Anunciation.
3) Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
4) Mass for Palm Sunday.
Regards and Thanks in Advance,
My email address is dominicsavio35@yahoo.com.au
Dominic Savio, I have sent an email regarding your questions to your address.
Maybe you could take a look at our blog and post a link to it:

Convenor,
I have added a link to that site on Holy Vocations Blog as well as on the list of orders of women's religious who wear a habit.
"...as on the list of orders of women's religious who wear a habit."
If one uses habits as a measure to discern their vocation, they seriously need to rethink their call. It is what is in your heart that counts, not what you wear.
Exteriors are an expression of the interior.
Unfortunately in many cases, exteriors are just a facade.
A true vocation begins in one's heart. If the vocational call is answered, years of prayer, study, spiritual direction and guidance are needed to determine what the Holy Spirit desires. If what one is going to wear has an influence on the vocation, then it simply is not a genuine call.
Pls,my good friend,i urge you to use the following site for your own personal prayer for these end times.
www.chapletoftearsofmysorrows.com
I love your comment, "Exteriors are an expression of the interior." That is absolutely true and something I will remind people. That would not only apply to how religious dress (habit or not) but as lay Catholics. If we really understood what the Mass was all about I think we would think other wise of dressing down for it.
Wendee, I think that you are absolutely correct.
"Exteriors are an expression of the interior."
Whatever... God ultimately knows.
Thaml you Matthew for commenting y blog!
God Bless!
