As Catholics we should always be cautious of what work our donations contribute towards, and I strongly recommend again the March of Dimes and UNICEF because these organizations support abortion, which is equal to the murder of another human being. Technically, the March of Dimes is neutral on abortion but they support destroying embryos with genetic abnormalities (1).
I'd like to point out that I recently read that UNICEF's work involves promoting abortion (2).
Note: Some other charities give to Planned Parenthood, the leading abortion provider in the US. See the list.

Hi, I have an interest in humanitarian efforts and I am a Catholic. I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion of UNICEF being the supporter of abortion as I came across the info below from UNICEF's website at http://www.unicef.org/pon95/fami0010.html:
"As a matter of policy, approved by its Executive Board, UNICEF does not advocate any particular method of family planning, believing this to be a matter best decided by people themselves in accordance with their needs, values and preferences. As a matter of practice, UNICEF does not provide contraceptive supplies. UNICEF has never provided support for abortion and it continues to be the long-standing UNICEF policy not to support abortion as a method of family planning."

Just to let you know, Unicef supports population control in many third world countries. They have also recommend the use of abortion in third world countries.

Have you heard anything on the Children's miracle Network. I had heard that they support Planned Parenthood but I am not sure if that is true.
Your list has the Girl Scouts as supporters of Planned Parenthood. Is this true? Please explain how they support them.
I take offense to this article. My children were premature and the MOD helped in SO MANY ways. They gave me my pump because I couldn't afford one. They gave me the support and lead me to seek Christian counselors for dealing with post-partum depression. Let's remember the good work that the MOD does.
What about all of the babies saved by the research performed by the MOD?

Any agency who claims to "help children" should naturaly be prolife if they so truly desire to help children! Sure Unicef says they are not supporting abortion, and I have chickens that lay gold eggs! What Unicef is not saying is, "we are prolife" Shame on all of you at Unicef, you send children out to collect your change in those little orange boxes, GOD HELP US
you typed "strongly recommend again"...but it sounds like you meant to type "against"? i was also worried about those groups. not that i have extra money to donate to them anyway, but i'd prefer charity that is more catholic/pro-life, instead of being only partly pro-life. the Catechism says that a prenatal diagnosis should not be a death sentence, and while it's good to become aware and avoid birth defects by healthy living during pregnancy, contraception is not the answer to preventing birth defects because it is not an authentic solution. NFP is healthy for married couples so they say. for many of us, abstinence is the best form of waiting. Theology of the Body is a great resource. God bless.
In this time of need (Japan earthquake/tsumani/nuclear disaster), I believe donating to a well-respected, hard working, organization such as UNICEF is the right thing to do; help the children that are alive, today, that have just seen they're world washed away.

I don't know about UNICEF, but this website above on page 60 shows that March of Dimes gave Virginia Planned Parenthood $22,000+ in 2012. Thx.
