According to recent news, Brother Roger was a Catholic. Brother Roger, who was stabbed to death in 2005, formed the Taize movement to help heal the Protestant-Catholic chasm. And, according to sources, speculations are correct - he did become a Catholic. According to a former Catholic bishop of Autun, Brother Roger made a "profession of faith" for the Catholic Church in 1972.

That is truly amazing. Which would go a long way explaining his Catholic funeral and why he recieved Communion from Cardinal Ratzinger himself at the late Pope JP2's funeral.
On another point, I didn't realize there still exists monks and nuns within Protestantism.
yeh, I read that too this afternoon!
I guess it all makes sense now why Cardinal Ratzinger gave him communion ( at the time lots of people were saying that it must be a *sign* that non-Catholics can recieve communion).

yes, some very high Anglican communities have monks and nuns. Like here in England you even get Anglican Franciscans!
Basically they follow the rule of St. Francis...with the exception of obedience to the Pope!!
But that is only really high Anglicans. There aren't many around anymore as they are all becoming so lax.
