What is the New Age Movement?

The New Age movement is considered morally opposed to Christianity. Louis from A Catholic Hart posted a link to JESUS CHRIST, THE BEARER OF THE WATER OF LIFE. It is a link to 60 page document from the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.

Louis I was very interested in reading what you had to say about the New Age Movement. If you know more I think you should post it. It just may save anyone who is into that now. I am glad you found Jesus and any experience you can share with us is a plus. God bless you.

That post was enlightening. There are really people who believe that hippies with crystals are a threat? They think there are really witches and such? I always thought it was a joke when people talk about things like banning Harry Potter because it contains witchcraft. What do you do when you find somebody practicing magic? How do you know somebody is practicing black magic? Is there good magic that it is ok to practice (do church rituals count as magic)? What is magic, exactly? Does the church have specific doctrine on how to deal with practitioners of black magic? I just deal with molecules all day, so this magic stuff is quite new to me and very interesting :)

Erica,

People in believe is such "magic" believe in lies. There is no such thing as good magic or bad magic. The only Truth is Jesus Christ. He's real; His Sacraments are real. That's what matters.

Those who practice witchcraft and magic commit mortal sins, and that means if they did they will go to hell. They must go to Confession to be forgiven. Disbelief in God, abortion, murder, stealing large amounts of money, sins against purity, etc are all mortal sins. Mortal sins must have three characters. If they don't have all three, they do not kill the grace in the soul.

I think one should not deny the existence of magic, especially black magic. I do not believe there is such a thing as 'good' magic for magic, as far as I have seen or heard, seems to involve the use of spirits or demons. Until I am convinced otherwise, these creatures seem to have the objective of bringing people down and leading them far from God.

While I say 'do not deny', I do not mean 'believe in them'. If one is aware of the existence of the devil, one can prepare the Armour of God in order to be a true soldier of Christ.

I amend my comment. I read your answer too fast and thought you were denying the existence of magic.

Yes, to believe in magic is to believe in lies. May God protect us from the Prince of Lies.
