This news is very disheartening. I try to consistently teach true Catholicism on this weblog and as a priest, I hope to continue teaching. I wish that more priests would educate their parishioners because this is very unsettling.

It's probably because Italians do not immerse themselves in studying the scriptures.
They like merry making and cooking and eating. They take their faith for granted as the survey says.

Its the curse of the established Church. Here in England, the CofE mostly made up of people with a vague sense of spirituality, with little or no religious education.
What can I say? Thank God for our Protestant Brothers and Sisters here in the US who spur us Catholics to know a little about our faith (even if not as much as we should...)
