"The observance of Lent is the very badge of the Christian warfare. By it we prove ourselves not to be enemies of the cross of Christ. By it we avert the scourges of divine justice. By it we gain strength against the princes of darkness, for it shields us with heavenly help. Should mankind grow remiss in their observance of Lent, it would be a detriment to God's glory, a disgrace to the Catholic religion, and a danger to Christian souls. Neither can it be doubted that such negligence would become the source of misery to the world, of public calamity, and of private woe." - Pope Benedict XIV, 1741

I can't thank you enough for this reminder. Please God, Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, all you Saints, St.Michael and the heavenly host, Souls in Purgatory, devout souls still with in this valley of tears, pray for every Catholic in every corner of the world - so that we may appreciate the purpose of Lent: The preparation of the believer for Easter through prayer, doing penance, mortifying the flesh, repentance of sins, almsgiving, and denial of ego.
Lenten sacrifice: fasting and abstinence, giving up certain luxuries in order to replicate the account of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ's journey into the desert for 40 days; this is known as one's Lenten sacrifice. Lenten spiritual discipline, such as Daily Mass and Communion, Confession, Daily Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Daily Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Stations of the Cross, Seven Sorrows of Mary, reading a daily devotional or praying through a Lenten calendar, and frequent saying of this prayer: We adore You O Christ and we bless You because by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the whole world.
Happy to help in any way. God bless!
