Begin Prayer for Souls in Purgatory

Today I am beginning a special 7 day long prayer for the poor souls in purgatory especially with All Saints Day and All Souls Day approaching. St. Padre Pio repeatedly called for prayers and prayed for the souls in purgatory as did many of our holy Pontiffs and saints of centuries past. Purgatory is a Catholic Dogma and a required belief of the faith.

Our Lord once appeared to St. Gertrude and gave her a prayer for the souls in purgatory, and He promised that every time it was said that 1,000 souls would escape from purgatory. Please join me in this 7 day long prayer (it won't take long each day) and please deeply prayer the following prayer at the end.

The St. Gertrude Prayer:

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

I have one book that talks about why we should pray for the Holy Souls. I wonder if I can help adding some information for you...

When do we begin the Novena for the Souls in Purgatory? Do we begin 7 days before all souls day?

Yes, that would be a good time to start the Novena.

There is a book I recently read called "Hungry Souls" written by Gerard J.M. Van Den Aardweg. It is about supernatural visits, messages, and writings from purgatory. In my opinion it is a MUST READ for everyone! And it is not too expensive. It is published by TAN books! Enjoy!!
