ETERNAL Father, I wish to honor St. (Name), and I give You thanks for all the graces You have bestowed upon him (her). I ask You to please increase grace in my soul through the merits of this saint, and I commit the end of my life to him (her) by this special prayer, so that by virtue of Your goodness and promise, St. (Name) might be my advocate and provide whatever is needed at that hour. Amen.Image Source: Believed to be in the Public Domain
PROMISE: "When you wish to honor any particular saint and give Me thanks for all the graces I have bestowed on that saint, I increase grace in your soul through the merits of that saint. When you commit the end of your life to any of the saints by special prayers, I appoint those saints to be your advocates and to provide whatever you need at that hour."-Our Lord to St. Gertrude
From the book: Prayers and Heavenly Promises, Compiled from Approved Sources, by Joan Carroll Cruz.
NOTE: Catholics Don't "worship" saints; we simply honor them for their great lives for Our One Lord, Jesus Christ. We are called to imitate our Lord and the saints give us a model to follow in the imitation of Christ.

thanks for doing this..I was looking up some info on St. John of God...like many of the saints, he would be seen as a nutcase in todays world..thank God we have them. The only real connection to St. John that we have is that he is a patron for firefighters and my son-in- law is a firefighter...but that is good enough for me, since we all pray for Brett everyday as he goes about his most dangerous work.
Thank you for this. I think it will be very helpful.
I so glad it helped out, Crystal. :)
Thanks for the drawing and for the prayer!
St. Gabriel sounds like he's right up my alley -- I'll chalk that one to providence! ;-)
Thanks and God bless, you just have found another soon-to-be faithful reader of your blog!
Thank you, Andy. I'd love to have you here as a faithful reader :)
Thank you for posting this prayer. I made mine up the first time, but I wasn't quite sure what to say. This will come in handy.
