Preface: For a listing of hundreds of prayers with indulgences and special blessings attached to them, be sure to refer to a copy of the Raccolta often. Click here to order one.
Lord, teach me to be patient - with life, with people, and with myself. I sometimes try to hurry things along too much, and I push for answers before the time is right. Teach me to trust Your sense of timing rather than my ownand to surrender my will to Your greater and wiser plan. Help me let life unfold slowly, like the small rosebud whose petals unravel bit by bit, and remind me that in hurrying the bloom along, I destroy the bud and much of the beauty therein.
Instead, let me wait for all to unfold in its own time. Each moment and state of growth contains a loveliness. Teach me to slow down enough to appreciate life and all it holds. Amen.

That prayer is só on the mark.. I hate to be kept waiting.. but as it happens that is what the Lord is asking me to do right now :-|
hello, i just want to thank you for writing this beautiful prayer - i was looking for one on patience that i could use to lead a group bible study--of the many i found, this particular one struck a chord with me personally...and i feel that others will be able to relate to it as well. not being much of a writer myself, i hope you won't mind my borrowing your words in our prayers tonight.
may God bless you in your vocation. :)
catherine
Cathy,
I would love to say I wrote this prayer but I didn't. It was emailed to me, and the email didn't have the source. I receive a lot of prayers, and I post them with the source if I can. However, I didn't receive the source with this prayer.
I hope your Bible group goes well!!!
A friend sent me the link to your post. Very much appreciated. Hubby and I are selling house and the timing is in God's hands. Waiting is so hard.
A wonderful prayer. My husband and I are dealing with infertility and this prayer brings confort to my heart. Thank you.
I add my thanks for posting to the others.
Today I interview for a job that may not be the best move for me or my family...but I trust God will guide and protect me, whatever the outcome.
Patience. Faith. Peace.
Thank you for this wonderful prayer. I have always known the importance of being patient, however lately it seems that I have been waiting forever to meet that special someone. All things happen for a reason and in God's perfect timing. This prayer will provide me with the strength and continued patience that I need. God Bless.
Thank you so much for this prayer. I dearly needed it and I am glad that GOD has helped me come upon it. Please pray for my patience as well.....
Thank you so much for this prayer. I dearly needed it and I am glad that GOD has helped me come upon it. Please pray for my patience as well.....

I find a lose happiness when I rush, rush, rush. I can't watch the rose bloom and the loveliness contained within. Good prayer, Amen.
Thank you so much for this prayer. I was trying so desperately to find a prayer for patience, and this is exactly what I was looking for. I cannot thank you enough.
You are very welcome. God bless you.
Merry Christmas!
For the last 3 yrs. I've been applying to physical therapy school and every year I was disappointed. I'd done everything asked of me by the schools but it always seemed my grades weren't good enough or scores weren't high enough for acceptance. This was the first year that I said, "Lord, I'm leaving it all in your hands. You have a plan and I will accept whatever that plan may be, no questions asked." Last week, I received two acceptance letters. I have printed this prayer and will carry it with me for the next 3 years to remind of HIS plan and whatever happens, happens for a reason.
Thankyou for this prayer, I'm a very impatient person in many aspects of life and I will use this gather perspective. Thankyou again
Thank you so much for sharing this! It is exactly what I was looking for! :)
hi, thank you for this wonderful prayer..I dearly needs this, I thank God in moments like this, God still increases patience...
I needed this today. Thank you.
I'm currently trying to work on things with my significant other as we await our first child. Lots of mistakes made in the past from both of us, but I'm committed to making things work. It is very hard not to push & rush him into fixing things, hard to be patient as I try to rebuild our trust. I pray daily for guidance, faith, trust, and most of all patience...this prayer really helped today. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this prayer. I want God to reveal His plan for my life now instead of later, but my will won't come true. I must let go and let God show me the way and live His will just for today. I'm going to read this prayer often.
This prayer helped me when my marriage was falling apart... It helped me stay strong and have more patients and faith in God.
Thanks for the prayer-patience is not my strong suit and I will need all the patience I can get over the next few months. Glory be to GOD!
Beautiful prayer. Everyone needs the gift of patience at times. I definately do. So many changes are going on in my life right now and I need to let God have his way on what direction I should go in.
Thank you for this lovely prayer. I am so devastated and furious right now and this is just what I need to try to get myself back to a place of acceptance.
its as if i would say"why do all good things come to an end"God i ask for the perfect time to set me free..please the pain is killing me..help me God to gather myself,,,please people pray for me to get him back..
I am waiting to hear back on a job for which I interviewed. My husband and I are hoping to relocate this Summer to another state. At this point days feel like months. This really hit home for me.
This prayer is absolutely lovely. So is the picture. Can you tell me the name of the painting?
The painting is At Prayer by Edwin Longs den Long . If you go here: http://www.upromise.com/guest/2310492232 and search for "allposters.com" you can go to that merchant. They are selling a reprint of this beautiful painting.
Thank you. This is what I have been looking for. Every time I read this--I feel a sense of hope. Waiting is hard when the end is uncertain. There are 2 main things that I leave in the Lord's hands--and so many more little things! This will help me deal with all of the "Little Foxes". He knows what is best for me--but I can be so stubborn and headstrong! This is a wonderful prayer--thank you for posting it.
Wow, in a couple of weeks, this prayer will celebrate its 5th year! Thanks for posting this prayer, Matthew. Most of us would agree that patience sure is a virtue and we need this kind of prayer to keep us holding on. Although they say that good doctors have good patience...LOL..just wanted to put a smile on somebody's face to ease the pain...
I am a Catholic who after not attending church for a number of years, have come back to the church. I am a recovered drug addict. I would like to know if anyone has a prayer, wherby i ask only for god's will to help me lead a better or more fulfilling role in life.
Regards in Advance.
Thank you so much for this prayer. It calmed me down to a place of peace and contentment. I feel like the holy spirit has immediately given me the grace to feel patient in my current situation, and I am now able to feel at ease that whatever the outcome will be. I know the lord will provide only what is best for me.
Thanks for this prayer..
Lately, I'm so easy to be angry, not only because of big problems but even small things..
This prayer reminds me and brings back peace to my heart..
Really appreciate it..
Thank you. I needed this prayer tonight.
Very good prayer, Just what i needed.
very very exelent prayers
Thank you for sharing this prayer. I'm awaiting a job offer, which may or may not come, and need to be reminded that while I've done my best, this may not be the right job or time - and He will be with me as I walk this road.
Thank you so much for this prayer, Im going thru something right now and the prayer was so perfect for me. Thank you so much. God Bless all of us,
just what i needed.will share with those who need it as well.
Thank you so much for posting this prayer. It speaks volume on being patient when it seems God hasn't answered. I prayer for patience in my life for long term happiness within myself and with others. Thanks again for these wise words!
Thank you for sharing this prayer. Very helpful indeed on my journey to become a more patient person. Thank you!
I thought I had done all I could do, through prayer, worring, anxity all of it, except I hadn't allowed God to do what he has to do and through my inpatience I have suffered. Now in silence I will let God do his will and accept his will because his will will be done.
