Prayer to Forgive Those that Hurt Us

Almighty God, You have listened patiently to my concerns and consoled me in times of hardship. Let me remember Your presence and love for me when I am called upon to forgive another person for an unkind word or action. You have shown me how to act, what to say, what to do, and yet I sometimes react in anger and find it difficult to forgive others as You so often have forgiven me. Grant that I may recognize this failing in myself and remember Your words and example whenever I have need of a forgiving spirit. Amen

I am not a Catholic but have found much comfort in Catholic prayers. This prayer has helped me with a difficult issue I have with my daughter's husband. Thank you.

I am a Catholic and have a problem with somebody at my church.I have tried to extend the hand of friendship but am cold-shouldered, ignored and criticised. It causes me much pain because I don´t even know what is wrong! My friends call me oversensitive and maybe I am.I have a strong urge to show my anger and "fight back" but that is not acceptable. I think this is a lesson in humility and pray for humility. How can I resolve this? I pray for this person and try not to judge.Maybe I could go and talk to the priest without naming names and situations and ask for advice? I certainly confess my angry and hostile thoughts.

I wrote the above and me and that person have made peace and are now very friendly. I think there was a misunderstanding.

Praise God and Our Blessed Lady who truly answer prayers

Thank you for posting this. I confess that I am not a member of a Catholic church, and appreciate you sharing your faith and comfort with everyone. Bless you and yours.

Thank you for this prayer of forgiveness and rememberance of how I am forgiven on a daily basis by our father. I pray to be christ like in my actions and thoughts and never forget the sacrifice made for me. In forgiveness I am free. In forgiveness I am blessed. In anger I am in judgement where I have no
Right to be. In anger I am a prisoner

one day while I was at work a woman came in it was very rude hostile and almost violent to me. Because of my job I responded very calmly and respectfully it was very hard. A few days later she returned and sought me out to apologize to me, and then proceeded to explain that it was inexcusable but the reason was that she had on that day just been told that she had a stage 4 cancer. A few days before that her husband had died. From this interaction with her I always try to believe and think when someone is rude disrespectful or gives me cold shoulder what is that person going through? And then I try to forgive them.
